In 18 Siraj Ali Chowdhury bought seven annas of Barabaju Pargana and established zemindari. Belkuchi was the capital of that Siraganj zemindari. zemindari has been wiped out several times because of Jamuna river. During the reign of Ayub Khan, the posts of Thana Circle Officer and Health Officer were created in 1969. Originally Belkuchi Thana was established in 1921 with 108 mouzas from Shahjadpur Ullapara, Siraganj Thanas. At first its office was established in Belkuchi mouza. Under the new administrative system of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, this thana was inaugurated in 1983 as a Belkuchi standard upgraded thana. Later it got the status of an upazila. At present Belkuchi Upazila consists of a municipality, 6 unions, 109 mouzas and 151 villages.
